Kanye West has been sued for allegedly punching a fan.
The rapper has been sued by a fan who has claimed that Kanye punched him after he asked for an autograph in 2022.
Justin Poplawski and his wife Tiffany Marshall have filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Court for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and loss of consortium, according to documents obtained by The Blast.
The incident allegedly occurred in downtown L.A. on 13 January 2022 after Poplawski, who has described himself as a “well-respected autograph dealer,” asked Kanye for an autograph.
According to the lawsuit, Poplawski has claimed that after approaching the Flashing Lights rapper, Kanye yelled “Go the f**k (out of) here before I beat the f**k out of you. I’m going to make a f**king example of you.” The autograph seeker added that Kanye also mentioned his “f**king divorce” from his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Poplawski claimed that the rapper punched him several times, “severely injuring him”.
According to the documents, the plaintiff added that he and his wife were “lawfully standing on public property” during the alleged incident.
Marshall is suing the 46-year-old rapper for “loss of consortium”.
Shortly after the incident occurred, a video of Poplawski lying on the ground while Kanye shouted, appeared on social media.
Police investigated the incident, but decided not to press charges against the Gold Digger rapper.
“After a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction,” The L.A. City Attorney’s Office stated at the time.
