Karol G becomes the second solo female to single-handedly rule Tropical Airplay this decade

Three weeks after Karol G's 'Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido' debuted at No.2 Advertising sign's Hot Latin Songs, the song moves 3-1 on the Tropical Airplay chart (dated July 20), for the Colombian's first No. 1 there. It is the second unaccompanied female soloist to dominate the 2020s.

“Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” on Bichota/Interscope/ICLG and released June 21, advances to No. 1 on Tropical Airplay – as the week's top gainer – with 7.6 million audience impressions in its week of tracking 5- July 11, according to Luminate: that's a 27% gain from the previous week.

While “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido” gives Karol G her first Tropical Airplay champion, the singer-songwriter previously hit a No. 8 high with “Casi Nada” in 2016, before the chart became genre-based.

The track, produced in collaboration with Coke Studio, makes Karol G the second unaccompanied solo woman to lead Tropical Airplay this decade, after Rosalía reached No. 1 with “Despechá” in 2022 .Before, La India ruled with “Dímelo” for one week in 2016.

Specifically, only six women have topped Tropical Airplay in the 20s with or without partners: Natti Natasha, La India, Rosalía, Maria Becerra, Shakira and now, Karol G. Of those, Rosalía has successfully topped three champions, while Becerra, two. Here is their No. 1 collection:

Over on Hot Latin Songs, “Si Antes” remains at its No. 2 debut and tops for a third week. Meanwhile, it advances 5-2 on the overall Latin Airplay chart.
