Karol G is set to be honored as the 2024 Billboard Latin Women in Music Woman of the Year. Advertising sign and Telemundo announced Wednesday (May 29).
A few months after being named as Advertising signMarch's 2024 Woman of the Year, Karol will be recognized once again on June 9 for her extraordinary milestones and unparalleled impact on the music industry. The show will air exclusively on Telemundo at 9 p.m. ET, and will be available simultaneously on the Telemundo app and Peacock.
In recent years, Karol G has become a force to be reckoned with. In 2023, Karol became the first female artist to top the Billboard 200 with a Spanish-language album thanks to Mañana Será Bonito. She also embarked on her historic stadium tour in support of the record which includes hits such as “TQG” with Shakira and “Provenza”. In March, she won her first Grammy, taking home best urbana music album Mañana Será Bonito.
Moreover, Karol fired her Con Cora Foundationwhich was established to continue the artist's social work and mission to support women heads of households, youth at risk, children dealing with chronic or disabling illnesses, those dealing with teenage pregnancy, women deprived of freedom and after penalty, as well as – income women.
Karol G joins the previously announced lineup of Latina women who are shaping the music industry. Honorees include Gloria Estefan who will receive the 'Legend' award. Camila Cabello will receive the 'Global Impact' award. Ana Bárbara the “Lifetime Achievement” award; Ángela Aguilar who will receive the “Musical Dynasty” award Kali Uchis who will receive the “Rising Star” award and Kany García who will receive the “Spirit of Change” award.
The Billboard Latin Women in Music franchise recognizes the importance of Latin women in the music industry and honors those who have positively impacted Latin music and the industry in the past year. The 2023 honorees included Shakira as 'Woman of the Year', Ana Gabriel as 'Living Legend', Emilia as 'Rising Star' and Thalia as 'Global Powerhouse', among others.
In the coming weeks, additional honorees and details for the second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music ceremony will be announced.
