It's only been a few days, but it looks like Katy Perry is already spinning American Idol in the era of KP6. The KatyCats were quick to note on Tuesday (May 21) that the singer had changed her social media profile picture in a sleek, futuristic silver logo on a deep red background with her shiny initials floating inside a pair of brackets. In X, the new logo was accompanied by a red bar filled with bubbles.
At press time, Perry had not commented on the change or explained what it means, but last month Perry teased that she's working on a new single, one that she promised could be one of her biggest hits ever. He described the untitled track, whose release date has yet to be announced, as “one of my biggest songs yet to be released”. He revealed that the song was co-written by 28-year-old Canadian-Congolese singer Lu Kala, best known stateside for her appearance on Latto's 2023 song 'Lottery'.
Perry also said Access to Hollywood on the same night as the long-awaited follow-up to her 2020 album Smile is one of her happiest LPs to date. “I haven't made a record yet from a place where I feel really happy and whole and full of love,” she said. “Sometimes artists say, 'Oh, that's boring, you want to make music from a harder place,' but it's actually very bright and happy, like pure joy and fun, playful and festive and a party.”
Last August, during a show at her now-defunct Las Vegas residency, Perry told the crowd: “If you can't love me in my Witness and Smile era, then you can't love me in my KP6 era.” Technically, the upcoming album is the singer's seventh, although her debut LP, Katy Hudsonin 2001, which had a more Christian rock vibe than subsequent major label albums.
At that time he also said GMA that despite not having released any new material since the birth of her daughter Daisy Dove three years earlier, “I think I write a lot and I've written a lot from a place of love because I feel it so much – so a lot of unconditional love, that love that you never knew existed”
