Carpenter released “Espresso” right before she took the stage at Coachella earlier this month. The track peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs dated April 27, 2024.

“Weirdly, I ended up writing that song in France, and I think that probably had a little bit of inspiration for how the song ended up feeling,” the pop star told Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe about the track. “It just had this excitement and energy almost like traveling the world. We wrote it in France and I remember it being a very, very quick process. I mean, from start to finish I think that's why you can feel how much fun it is. And I think for me, there was something really exciting about the fact that there was so much personality in the whole song, because those are the things that are really fun to sing live with people.
