Kaytranada is taking everyone out this summer with his new album Eternalwhich was released Friday (June 7) via RCA Records.
The 17-track LP includes the previously released singles “Lover/Friend” (featuring Rochelle Jordan, who features on another song called “Spit It Out”) and the Channel Tres-assisted “Drip Sweat” as well as other star collaborations with his brother Lou Phelps, Don Toliver, Charlotte Day Wilson, Dawn Richard, Tinashe, Anderson .Paak, Childish Gambino and more.Eternalwill also include four bonus tracks featuring Thundercat, PinkPantheress, Mariah the Scientist and Channel Tres (“Stuntin”).
Eternal arrives five years after the Haitian-Canadian DJ/producer's second album,Babiwhich won Best Dance/Electronic album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, making him the first black producer and the first openly gay producer to win in the category since it was released in 2004. His single Kali-assisted hit “10%” Uchis won best dance recording. Babi also reached No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums.
Kaytranada also teamed up with Aminé last year for their first collaborative albumKaytraminéwhich peaked at No. 41 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 92 on the Billboard 200. It featured collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Big Sean, Amaarae and Freddie Gibbs.
“I just want to be remembered as one of the greatest in terms of producing, not just dance and electronic but just producing in general,” Kaytranada said.
