Throughout her career, she starred in R&B Kehlani she has spoken about her identity time and time again. But in a new set of videos posted to her TikTok on Sunday (June 30), the “After Hours” singer shut down anyone who still hasn't gotten the memo.
In the first clip, the singer spoke about the importance of prioritizing female voices in their lives in order to find happiness. “I've been bisexual my whole life and then came out as a lesbian almost four years ago now,” they said. “But when I realized, recently, actually, all the f–king uplifting in my life that came from decentralizing men in every f–king field… when I prioritized women and just focused on myself and women? When all the bad guys decide what planet we're going to after we put it on, invite me, because I'll thrive.”
While most fans in the comments section were supportive, some began questioning the star's honesty, saying she had multiple relationships with men. So Kehlani made one second video responding to the claims, clapping back at those who try to invalidate their sexuality.
“Should I bring up the fact that I had a child, or bring up ex-boyfriends from four years ago or before, bring up situations from my 20s? I'm 29. I'll be 30 next year,” he said. “I don't know why there is this inability to understand that I'm a raging lesbian.”
She continued, adding that her identity as a lesbian is naturally involved in her art. “And yes, my music is gay! The ones I play to and for are the gays,” he said. “And if you're stuck in the past, it's between you and your god. If you're a guy who's still bringing up my ex-boyfriends, just say you want to fight them.”
In a since-deleted On TikTok since April 2021, Kehlani let her fans know that they identified as “gay, gay, gay, gay, gay,” adding that it seemed like everyone in their lives already seemed to know it. “When I want to have these hearts with my family and my friends, and I'm like, 'Guys, I finally know that I'm like homosexual gay,' and they're like, 'We know, duh,'” they said. “I want you to fall on the floor and say, 'Congratulations, we had no idea!'

The album's lead single “After hours,” meanwhile, reaches a new high of No. 72 on this week's Hot 100, just two spots below Jordan Adetunji's viral single titled “Kehlani.”
