The album, her first since 2022’s Blue Water Road, is scheduled to arrive on June 21 featuring the lead single “After Hours”
Summer 2024 is coming in hot, and Kehlani is bringing the heat. On Wednesday, the singer and songwriter announced her upcoming studio album, Crash, set for release on June 21. The record will feature the recently released lead single “After Hours.”
Alongside the album title and release date, Kehlani unveiled the artwork for Crash. On the cover, the singer is perched on top of a totaled red car while wearing an armor of metal scraps. “I was so in love with this image when I photographed it personally one of my favorite covers I’ve done to date,” photographer Israel Riqueros shared on Instagram. “Believe me when I say this album is worth the wait, and also all the banger images we have coming for it.”
Kehlani began teasing Crash last month with a billboard posted on the main road leading into Coachella. The photo featured Kehlani kneeling close to the ground with a city skyline behind her and read: “Album coming soon.” Earlier this week, the singer shared a video that featured comments from her fans as they responded to the festival teaser. “Oh I would’ve crashed into this billboard so fast,” one read, with another emphasizing: “I’d crash. And they said I was crazy for calling an album and a tour being otw.”
Crash marks Kehlani’s first full-length release since her third album, Blue Water Road, arrived in 2022. “Blue Water Road is a destination in my mind. I’m giving everyone access. It’s an emotional journey, a sexual journey, and a spiritual journey,” she shared at the time. “To me, the album is like a glass house. It’s light, transparent, and the sun is shining right through it.” With Crash, the glass seems to be shattered.
