Keke Palmer Convinced Nicki Minaj Will Walk Her 2024 Met Gala On The Red Carpet: 'I Didn't Expect That'

Keke Palmer had a red carpet moment at this year's Met Gala. And while she looked great and enjoyed the evening, it wasn't stress-free. Chief among them was none other than Nicki Minaj on the red carpet. THE No stopped the star The Tonight Show on Tuesday night (Nov. 19) to describe the scary moment for host Jimmy Fallon, with a pretty deadpan Nicki impersonation.

Palmer described Minaj spotting her on the red carpet and, while chatting with another group of luminaries, stopped what she was doing and turned to Keke. “Uh, you, I need to talk to you, hold on,” Palmer said, pointing her finger and mimicking Minaj's signature New-York-via-Trinidad accent. Opening her eyes, Palmer recalled thinking, “I did something! Nicki is getting ready to guess me at the Met Gala.” He noted that the two knew each other casually after Minaj set Palmer up with famed photographer/music video director David LaChapelle for a baby shower shoot.

Unsure of what was actually coming next, Palmer said she sat back and awaited what she expected to be a rant from the MC who has been known to traumatize her enemies. “Look, I don't read the press. I don't know everything that's going on,” Palmer said in Nikki's voice. “But I just want to tell you, nobody knows what it's like when we turn off the lights and have to be with ourselves. So you do what it takes to be a good witch.''

Surprised by the sage advice, Palmer said she was like, “YES! I said, “Thank you for this talk! I didn't expect that.”

THE Slogan Friends also talked about Emmy Award-winner Palmer's empowering new memoir, Master of Meher tribute to Usher at this year's BET Awards and her upcoming big-screen comedy with SZA; One of these days. The multi-link also gushed about her adorable young son Leo, for whom she has written a Broadway-style theme song. “Leo/ That's my name/ Leo, that's my name/ Leo, I'm the guy you know,” Palmer croons before showing a home video of Leo singing his own show tune.
