The fireplace is bright and Kelly Clarkson it's carols in the night! The superstar opened her popular Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday (Dec. 20) with a cover of the holiday classic, “This Christmas.”
“Hang all the mistletoe / I'm gonna get to know you more / This Christmas,” the three-time Grammy winner belted out the opening lines of her Kellyoke performance of the track, dressed in a stunning, sparkly black mini dress, paired with black tights and a festive red lip.
Clarkson herself is no stranger to a holiday album, like her 2021 project When Christmas comes arrived eight years after her 2013 album, Wrapped in red. Her holiday hit, “Underneath the Tree,” returned to the Holiday 100 top 10 this year at No. 9. The song, which Clarkson co-wrote with Greg Kurstin, was the lead single from her first Christmas album in 2013 Wrapped in red. So far it has reached No. 8 on the Holiday 100 in 2014.
Expect more Christmas covers from Clarkson throughout the rest of the week. She kicked off this week's shows with unique renditions of 'Blue Christmas', Elvis Presley's 'O Holy Night', Cher's 'DJ Play a Christmas Song' and her own Christmas track 'Wrapped in Red'.
