Clarkson performed “Pride (In the Name of Love)” for MLK Day earlier this month
Kelly Clarkson must make it to the Globe to see U2!
On Friday's episode The Kelly Clarkson Showthe host and musician performed a cover of U2's “Mysterious Love” during her Kellyoke segment.
“She's the wave, turning the tide/She sees the man in the child,” Clarkson sang. “It's alright, it's alright, it's alright/Moves in mysterious ways, yeah.”
“Mysterious Love” originally appeared on one of the group's biggest albums, Achtung Babywhich was released in 1991. Clarkson's performance arrives on the same day that the Grammy Awards announced that U2 will perform at the awards show from the Sphere in Las Vegas.
The group's residence — focused on Achtung Baby — is still in progress and will be completed in March. So far, U2 is the only group to have performed at the Sphere, although Phish is expected to become the second group with four nights of shows starting in April.
“The Sphere show has been in the works for a long time. We don't want to let people down, least of all our audience… the truth is we miss them as much as they seem to miss us,” U2 said in a statement when the residency was first announced.
Clarkson last performed a cover of U2's “Pride (In the Name of Love)” to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. In 2021, Clarkson sang “Nice day,” and last year, he played “I Still Have not Found What I'm Looking ForAmid the Black Lives Matter protests.
Earlier this month, the singer also delivered a tender rendition of Miley Cyrus' “Used to Be Young.”
