Only Kelly Clarkson could do Celine Dion's song justice, showing off her unparalleled vocal prowess for Kellyoke on her daytime talk show on Wednesday (November 20) with her fellow superstar's “All By Myself.”
Accompanied by a piano and wearing a black leather skirt and off-the-shoulder T-shirt, Clarkson began the verses softly before revving up the emotion for the power ballad's soulful chorus as her guitarist turned up the heat with a solo. “All by myself/ Don't wanna be/ All by self/ Anymore,” the superstar sang before closing the cover by hitting an impressive high note, which was met with cheers from the audience.
“All By Myself” was originally released by singer-songwriter Eric Carmen in 1975 as the first single from his debut self-titled album. The track reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. More than two decades later, the song was popularized again by Dion, who released a cover of the track in 1996 as a single from her fourth English-language album, Falling into you. The song, produced by David Foster, quickly became one of Dion's biggest hits, reaching the top 10 on the Hot 100, Hot 100 Airplay and Hot 100 Singles Sales charts.
Next month, Clarkson is set to return for a second year as host of NBC's annual show Christmas at Rockefeller Center Telecast on December 4th. In addition to hosting, Clarkson is also set to perform some festive hits at the tree lighting ceremony.
