The musician and host recently delivered renditions of songs from Cyrus’ catalog, including “Used to Be Young” and “Jaded”
Kelly Clarkson‘s Kellyoke streak is still going strong. During the April 8 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the host and musician delivered a striking rendition of “Edge of Midnight,” the remixed deep cut from Miley Cyrus‘ Plastic Hearts that combines her single “Midnight Sky” with Stevie Nicks‘ 1981 single “Edge of Seventeen.”
“Edge of Midnight” marks the third song from Cyrus’ catalog that Clarkson has performed this season, joining the one-off single “Used to Be Young” and “Jaded” from Endless Summer Vacation. Back in 2022, when The Kelly Clarkson Show was in its third season, the singer selected the original “Edge of Seventeen” recording as her Kellyoke pick. She later followed it up with a cover of Nicks and Tom Petty’s collaboration “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.”
Clarkson recently praised Cyrus following her epic night at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February. “Sometimes people can be too cool in that environment, so shout-out to Miley Cyrus for being on stage and being like ‘Why ya’ll acting like you don’t know this song?’” Clarkson said, referencing the singer’s performance of “Flowers” at the ceremony. “Because sometimes it gets stuffy in that environment and people are too cool to like engage, or have a good time, or let their guard down. And that was really, you know, whether you liked it or not, I thought it was hilarious.”
She added: “She got everybody on their feet and it kinda set the tone for everybody to have a good time, because that’s what we’re here for, to celebrate music. So that was really cool, that was funny, that was probably one of my favorite moments of the night.”
