Kim Gordon is weighing in the great pop icons of 2024 debate, saying that she’s “not really a fan of Taylor Swift” and would rather “choose Billie Eilish.”
The comment came in a new interview with The Guardian as part of its “10 Chaotic Questions” series. The 10th and final query was regarding her most controversial pop culture opinion, and Gordon answered: “I don’t know if it’s controversial but I’m not really a fan of Taylor Swift.”
Continuing, Gordon conceded that she “couldn’t tell you what her music sounded like, actually.” Nonetheless, “when it comes to pop icons,” she said, “I would choose Billie Eilish.”
While some major artists who came before Swift have expressed their admiration for her — like Cyndi Lauper and Billy Corgan — Gordon is probably right that her opinion isn’t overly controversial. Dave Grohl, who recently had a bit of a spat with Swift, has famously sung the praises of Eilish.
The former Sonic Youth member released her second solo album, The Collective, this past March. Up next, she’s booked for a plethora of shows in Australia, Europe, and North America. Grab tickets here.
Eilish and Swift are both on tours in support of new albums as well. In September, Eilish will kick off her“Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour” (get tickets here), while Swift will soon return to North America for the final leg of her historic “Eras Tour” (buy tickets here).
