Heavy metal legend King Diamond is currently on his much-anticipated fall headlining performance in North America, dubbed the “Saint Lucifer's Hospital 1920 Tour.” With support from New Jersey thrash veterans Overkill and California trio Night Demon, the extensive tour began on October 15 in San Antonio and will conclude on December 6 in Dallas (get tickets here). The tour made a stop in Brooklyn, New York, on the night of Wednesday, October 30, at the opulent Kings Theater, a fitting venue to host metal royalty.
King Diamond brought their signature horror-filled metal show to Brooklyn's Flatbush neighborhood, delivering an elaborate set with multi-level staircases, horror-themed props, dancers, costume changes, and a host of flashing lights and effects that surpassed expectations. expectations.

The band’s set began with the powerful one-two punch of “Arrival” and “A Mansion in Darkness,” with the King accompanied by founding guitarist Andy LaRocque, veteran guitarist Mike Wead, bassist Pontus Egberg, drummer Matt Thompson and a special tour. Myrkur, who will provide backing vocals and keyboards throughout the tour.
Before the band launched into an obvious song for the show, the classic “Halloween,” the King briefly introduced Myrkur’s 5-year-old son, Otto, who was adorably dressed in a skeleton suit. “It's ready for Halloween, you know?” exclaimed the King, as mother Myrkur looked on proudly from the top of the stairs. Myrkur's husband and Otto's father, Keith Abrami (known for his work as a drummer with Artificial Brain and Shredded), joined in the emotional moment, which drew huge cheers and devil horns from the packed house.
King and company performed classics such as “Sleepless Nights,” “The Invisible Guest,” “The Candle,” “Eye of the Witch” and “Welcome Home.” For the latter, King made a haunting entrance, appearing on stage in a creepy old man's mask while, of course, helping old granny on stage. The band also treated the crowd to two new songs, “Spider Lilly” and “Electro Therapy,” and even performed the recently released “Masquerade of Madness.” For their encore, they went all out with a performance of the spooky gem “Abigail.”
Metal pros Overkill kept the venue's energy at full speed during their live support slot, hitting the crowd with their fast-paced classics like “Rotten to the Core,” “Hello from the Gutter,” and “Elimination.” The band kept the momentum going by including some tracks from their latest album, singedperforming the album's title track and the stunning song “The Surgeon.” Middle fingers were raised in the air as the band closed their set with their performance of “Fuck You” by The Subhumans.
Night Demon burst onto the stage promptly at 8pm, unleashing a torrent of darkness with a barrage of songs from their self-titled debut EP and albums. Curse of the damned and Stranger.
