Kittie has officially announced her first album in 13 years. The new LP, titled Firewill arrive on June 21 via Sumerian Records.
Ahead of its release, the Canadian metal band has unveiled new song “Vultures,” which follows previous singles “Eyes Wide Open” (winner of Heavy Song of the Week in February) and “We Are Shadows.”
Regarding the new album, Kittie singer and guitarist Morgan Lander stated: “10 years ago, if someone had told us we would be releasing new Kittie music in 2024, we would have immediately dismissed it. It feels like something deeper than fate that has brought us together again, allowing us to create something magical and brave for you. We've worked incredibly hard over the past year and surrounded ourselves with the best dream team to make this album a reality. We can't wait for you to lose yourself in the passion and strength of Fire.”
The album was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice in Chains, Korn, Halestorm and more.
Regarding the single, Lander commented: “'Vultures' is a bold musical statement, signaling our new beginnings as a band. 'Vultures' is a warning to those with hidden agendas, who thrive on deception. It is a proclamation of liberation from the chains of exploitation and a reckoning for those who bite the bones of those who suffer in silence.”
The music video for “Vultures” contains footage of Kittie performing the song at the recent Sick New World festival in Las Vegas.
Kittie will also perform at the Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple festivals this month, and will perform as select headliners in North America in July and August. Tickets for her upcoming shows are available here.
Lander was recently invited to Consequence's Beyond the boys club podcast, where she and Esjay Jones of We Are Pigs talked about their new non-alcoholic beer KittiePig with host Anne Erickson.
