Since his untimely death in 2020, Kobe Bryant-related memorabilia and apparel have been a hot commodity among fans and collectors. Now, someone out there will have the chance to own something extremely rare as Kobe's personal locker is now up for auction.
Sotheby's has begun bidding on Kobe Bryant's Staples Center locker, which was actually discarded once the Staples Center was renovated in 2018. Fortunately, it has been recovered and is now a coveted piece of Kobe Bryant history that is sure to fetch millions dollars. Can you believe they were actually willing to drop that cabinet?
Sotheby's head of contemporary collectibles, Brahm Wachter, knew this was something of a trophy for hardcore sports fans and stated as much in a press release about the auction saying: “Kobe Bryant's locker at Staples Center is more than just a souvenir. it is a sacred relic of his unparalleled journey. This locker has been Kobe's refuge between triumphs and challenges, witnessing the highs and lows of a storied career. Every achievement and hardship left its mark within these walls. Its appearance now at auction represents a rare opportunity to own a unique piece of Kobe's heritage.”
We couldn't agree more.
The auction for Kobe Bryant's personal locker will be live from Tuesday, July 23 to August 2, and is estimated to fetch $1-1.5 million. Who ends up with the winning bid and how much he ends up throwing is anyone's guess, but we wouldn't be surprised if it was someone who actually knew Kobe personally, whether it was a fellow NBA player or a celebrity of some sort.
