The 2024 Summer Olympics just kicked off on Friday, and already we've seen huge moments from Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Beyoncé and other musical A-listers.
It all kicked off with the opening ceremony, which featured all-French performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion at iconic landmarks across Paris, as well as an introduction by Team USA's Beyoncé. Then we saw musical moments from Taylor Swift (her 'Ready For It?' used in an NBC Olympics ad), Snoop Dogg (he's an NBC commentator), Flavor Flav (he's the official sponsor, and women's water polo hotshot) and Stray Kids (Mexican athlete Alexa Moreno's floor routine) as well.
On the new Billboard Pop Podcast (listen below), Katie & Keith talk about all the music highlights from the summer run (so far).
Also on the show, we have new charts on how K-pop dominates the top two spots on the Billboard 200 album chart for the first time, as the latest releases from Stray Kids and BTS' Jimin debut at No. .1 and 2. Also in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, the Twisters The soundtrack enters at No. 7 with the biggest week of the year for any soundtrack. Plus, could Taylor Swift get a lucky 13th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 next week with Department of Tormented Poets?
