Lainey Wilson performs “Dead Flowers” with the Rolling Stones

The collaboration is also fitting, given Wilson's recent work Stoned Cold Country project, which features country artists performing various Stones classics, with Wilson taking on a cover of one of the band's most iconic songs, 1969's “You Can't Always Get What You Want.”

Wilson told Billboard when Stoned Cold Country released, “The Rolling Stones are global musical icons, from the musicianship to the optimism and relatable outlook on songs like 'You Can't Always Get What You Want.' Man, if I didn't have to learn that lesson over and over again. I know that feeling of resisting your fate, that struggle, but I also know that sense of pride and peace when you realize the hard times paved the way for something better. I try not to take myself too seriously – I've heard you can't be great if you do – so I like the way the production turns into a light cathartic jam at the end. This song leaves me shaking my head, smiling to myself, and feeling grateful. And that's what the Stones have always done. They made you feel something and they made you feel good.”

Wilson isn't the only country roots artist opening for the Rolling Stones on this tour. The War and Treaty, Tyler Childers and The Red Clay Strays also earned openings on the trip.
