For the capper, Wilson announced the title and release date for her new album — Tornadothe sequel to the Grammy Award-winning Bell Bottom Countryarrives on August 23rd.
For Tornado, her third studio album for BBR Music Group, Wilson teamed up again with producer Jay Joyce. But this time, he recruited his touring band to play on the album, not studio pros, a decision similar to how Waylon Jennings chose to record in the '70s.
“I'm so excited to finally announce Tornado. This album has been a long time coming and I can't wait for people to get their hands on this project soon,” Wilson said in a statement. “This new chapter of music is the most cathartic and personal work of art I have ever made. I hope this record brings some peace to your whirlwind and wraps its arms around you like it did for me.”
Includes 14 pieces, Tornado will include songs like the previously released “Country's Cool Again” and a song called “Hang Tight Honey.” Wilson has already performed “Country's Cool Again” in various television appearances.
Earlier this week, Wilson also announced the opening of her new Nashville bar, Bell Bottoms Up, which will replace the former FGL House (Florida Georgia Line's honky-tonk) at 3rd Avenue and Broadway. Bell Bottoms Up will feature Cajun food, in a nod to Wilson's Louisiana roots, and a western disco aesthetic. it is expected to open sometime this summer.
On Monday, Rolling Stone premieres the trailer for a new Hulu documentary, Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Countrybroadcast on May 29. The special — produced by Robin Roberts' production unit at ABC News Studios — is set to capture Wilson's story of arriving in Nashville and feeling like a “fish out of water” while pursuing her country music career.
