How are you? You look well. It's a great honor to be back, all of you. Billboard Women in Music, let's go! Give it to me!
One of my favorite things about the celebration is that we get to showcase so many different styles of music. It's a place where a girl who grew up in a small Louisiana farming community can shed light on an incredible group of K-pop artists from around the world. Of course, I think you all know who I'm talking about. I'm talking about NewJeans, the winner of the inaugural Group of the Year award presented by Coke Studio.
After making their debut in 2022, NewJeans has helped lead a new wave of girl groups in K-pop, a genre long dominated by men. They built a core fan base in Korea and around the world. Among his many chart achievements, his EP Get up hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned five Hot 100 entries in 2023. Congratulations to all the members of NewJeans. Congratulations to all. It is an honor to present you with this award.
