Lana Del Rey, fresh off her first Coachella concert, dropped jaws at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday night (May 6), marking her first appearance since 2018 and upping the 'Garden of Time' dress code at next level.
The “Young and Beautiful” star walked the red carpet in a custom beige Seán McGirr by Alexander McQueen gown, and the one-shoulder gown was lined with what appeared to be branches down the entire bodice. The branches stretched across a headdress with a beige net veil draped over her face. Costume accessory holding a single red rose.
The dress code for the event is “The Garden of Time”, inspired by a 1962 short story of the same name by JG Ballard.
This year's theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, is set to feature 250 items from the Costume Institute's permanent collection, according to an Instagram post announcing the theme in November. “From a 17th-century Elizabethan English bust and Christian Dior's famous Junon and Venus balls, to 21st-century acquisitions by designers such as Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney and Conner Ives, the main exhibition will span 400 years of history,” reads the caption. .
