Who needs expensive design companies when you can hire seven-year-olds to do your graphic design?
Lane 8 are celebrating the release last week of their wonderful new album, Childrenwhose cover features a silly cartoon made of Perler beads. In a new thread discussing the creation of the record, the deep house superstar talked about how his own children created the art.
The influential deep house producer, whose real name is Daniel Goldstein, explains that the title “Childish” was just an idea until he saw his children doing crafts one Sunday morning. At that moment, one of the creations made him realize that he and his mother had come up with the concept and artwork for the album.
Illustrations and Perler bead designs created by Goldstein's children were used to formulate the music video for the album's title track. Watch the fantastic video, directed by Patrick Atkins, below.
Goldstein is now giving his fans the opportunity to channel their inner child under a new initiative launched on his website. Inspired by their children's work, fans can recreate the cover of Children with new colors and designs before sharing your work in a gallery on Lane 8 Website.
Children released on September 27, 2024 via Lane 8's own record label, This Never Happened. You can listen to the full album below and find it on streaming platforms. here.
