“Tell Ur Girlfriend” tops the chart for a third week in a row amid its continued dance trend. It simultaneously aggregates 10.9 million official US streams to Advertising sign charts April 26-May 2, according to Luminate, well enough to return to its peak so far at No. 58 on the multimetric Billboard Hot 100. the vast majority of its Hot 100 points come from streaming.
Next up is a new challenger for No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 in “Million Dollar Baby,” which debuts at No. 2. That's the same spot as its Hot 100 debut, thanks to 38 million streams.
The story of “Million Dollar Baby” begins on TikTok. Richman debuted the audio on April 13, and the original clip has since garnered more than 9 million views. A follow-up clip on April 23 cleared that number amassing over 13 million so far, with the song's official release coming on April 26.
A trend of dancing to the song followed, along with lip-syncing clips, as well as a photo trend where users post photos of themselves meeting celebrities.
Shaboozey's “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” jumps to No. 3 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 after debuting at No. 9 on May 4. The tune is enhanced by a dance trend as well as several lip-synching videos, some highlighting the lyric “Someone pour me up a double shot of whisky” for comedic effect, implying that they need a stiff drink.
“A Bar Song” reigns atop the Hot Country Songs chart for a second week and also jumps 27-3 on the Hot 100, garnering a 67% increase in streams to 35 million.
After Shaboozey, two more songs entered the TikTok Billboard Top 50 for the first time: “Like That!” by Laila! at No. 4 and Phoebe Bridgers' slow down for “Scott Street,” rounding out the top five. “Like this!” has been gaining steadily since April, debuting at No. 19 on the April 20 survey. Most uploads incorporate “Do you want me?/ Do you want to love me like this?” chorus, sometimes accompanied by a caption in which the user tries to distract their significant other from something by dancing and lip-syncing to the lyrics. “Scott Street,” meanwhile, remains attached to the aforementioned lineup of clips featuring reunions, emotional moments, and more.
Then there's Johnny Cash's “The Chicken In Black,” the second-highest debut after “Million Dollar Baby,” which debuted at No. 6. The song was released in 1984 and spent 11 weeks on the Hot Country Songs chart that the year, peaking at No. 45 amid a general slump in the country legend's success.
“The Chicken In Black” gets new life four decades later thanks to a TikTok trend that generally uses creators' pets, with users holding their (usually) small pets or even their children as weapons while shouting “Stick 'em up, everybody, I'm robbin' this place” verse.
It's turned into a chart-worthy cash flow, with 1.3 million from April 26 to May 2, a 266% jump.
