Reese Witherspoon is bringing the new series about everyone's favorite lawyer to Amazon
It has finished two decades since Reese Witherspoon first starred Legally blondechanging her career and the landscape of film and television in the early 2000s. Now, Witherspoon is executive producing a Legally blonde prequel series on Amazon, titled Ellasomething Witherspoon called a dream come true.
“I really couldn't be more excited about this series!” Witherspoon said in a statement, via the Hollywood Reporter. “Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her unique personality and ingenuity in ways that only our beloved Elle could. What's better than that? I am extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine — along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell — for making this dream of mine come true. Legally blonde he's back!”
The news was announced Tuesday at Amazon's first presentation. Along with Witherspoon and the Hello Sunshine production team, the series will be directed by creator Kittrell, who has also worked at HBO Insecure and Amazon Freevee High School.
Ella will take viewers through the eponymous character's high school years, showing her coming-of-age experiences and life as a teenager before fans get to know her as a student-turned-Harvard Law School graduate.
The prequel has been in the works since early April, but there is no official release date for the series yet.
