Lenny Kravitz has revealed that he hasn’t been in a serious relationship in nine years.
The 60-year-old music icon has shared that he is committed to celibacy until he finds the right partner.
“Yes. It’s a spiritual thing,” Lenny said of the lifestyle choice in a new interview with The Guardian.
The It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over hitmaker added that while he would like to be in a relationship, he doesn’t know if it would work.
“I have become very set in my ways, in the way I live,” he admitted.
The rocker was previously married to actress Lisa Bonet, with whom he shares his daughter Zoë Kravitz, 35. The pair tied the knot in 1987 but divorced five years later in 1993.
Elsewhere in the interview, Lenny opened up about an experience he had when he was 13, when a woman in her 20s had initiated sex with him.
“Yes, she did do that, but that wasn’t…” he said. “In today’s world, yes, that was abuse and assault. It was this chick who saw this young teenager and thought I was cute and I’m going to give him some. Any young boy would have taken that opportunity and enjoyed the hell out of it.”
The musician noted that he had stopped the woman because he had a girlfriend, adding, “She thought it was comical – ‘You have a girlfriend?!'”
“I mean, she stopped, and I can’t speak for everyone, but that would have been a fantasy for so many kids,” Lenny continued. “But, for me, it’s not what I wanted.”
