Life of Agony performed at a benefit show in New York City for Sick of It All singer Lou Koller on Saturday night (November 23), marking the band's first concert since their singer, Keith Caputo (formerly Mina Caputo), announced that he was detransitioning. to male.
The concert, called “I'm in the Fight with Lou,” was held at Irving Plaza and also featured performances by Municipal Waste and Vision of Disorder. The proceeds went towards Koller's medical bills, following the hardcore legend's announcement earlier this year that doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his oesophagus.
Life of Agony performed nine songs during their set, with video footage showing Caputo (wearing a Sick 0f It All t-shirt) delivering a high-energy performance and interacting with the crowd throughout the concert. Seven of the songs were from the band's 1993 debut album, The river runs red.
Last week, Caputo revealed via a video message on Instagram that he was in the process of detransitioning. She said she had been off hormones for six or seven years and planned to have her breast implants removed next January.
“I will lovingly live in my divine masculine self,” Caputo said in the video post. “I have cured my gender dysphoria. It took many years. “I walked a lot through fire, but I rose above my misunderstandings of my soul and my spirit.”
He added: “I'm making this video because a lot of people criticize me and say I look ugly, that I look like a man and all that shit. And it's like, 'Honey, I'm a man, I've always been a man.' You’re just not used to hearing authentic people speak.”
Caputo also noted that he has reclaimed his first name Keith, after being known as Mina since coming out as transgender in 2011.
Life of Agony will hit the road with Biohazard for a co-headlining tour of the UK and Europe in 2025 starting in February. Pick up tickets here.
