Lil Nas X is headed to Hollywood. As announced on Tuesday (June 18), the hitmaker will contribute a new original song to the Eddie Murphy film Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Fcoming to Netflix on July 3rd.
Titled 'Here We Go!', the track will be released ahead of the film on June 28. The project is already available for pre-save.
In honor of the collaboration, the 25-year-old rapper posed for a photo with Murphy, which Netflix shared on Instagram. The “Old Town Road” musician reposted the snap to his Story.
The news comes just weeks after the streaming platform revealed the trailer For Axel Fwhich is directed by Mark Molloy and serves as his fourth installment Beverly Hills Cop privilege. Murphy first played the titular Detroit detective Alex Foley in 1984 and last filled his shoes in 1994 Beverly Hills Cop III.
This time, Murphy's character must team up with a new partner, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, to protect his daughter, played by Taylor Page, when her life is threatened. Along the way, they uncover a conspiracy.
“Here you go!” will mark Lil Nas' first solo release since “Where Do We Go Now?”, which was featured in the 2023 documentary Long live Montero. He recently collaborated with Camila Cabello on the single “He Knows,” which followed his “Tennessee” duet with Kevin Abstract.
The Georgia native hasn't released an album since his debut LP in 2021 Montero. With the Billboard Hot 100 hits “Industry Baby” and “Montero (Call Me By Your Name), the project reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
