Lil Wayne has expressed his frustration at not appearing during the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2025 and doubled down on the claim of being snubbed. During the annual Lil Weezyana festival, Lil Wayne addressed the Super Bowl embarrassment and said it was taken away from him.
Over the weekend, Lil Wayne returned to his hometown of New Orleans for this year's Lil Weezyana Fest and was joined by the entire Hot Boys for a reunion show. Wayne was also honored by New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell with a proclamation declaring February 6 and 7 Dwayne “Lil Wayne” Carter Day. Tunechi was also awarded a key to the city.
During the festival, Wayne addressed the elephant in the room about Kendrick Lamar getting the nod of the halftime show in New Orleans before one of his biggest musical acts. He began his story by recounting how he watched the 2009 Super Bowl in Miami with his family and how the moment inspired him.
“At that moment I said to myself, I want to be on stage for the Super Bowl one day in front of my mom and I worked to get that position,” Wayne said. “They took it away from me, but now that mom's back here, they can't take it away from me.”
Lil Wayne addressed the snub in September in a video he posted on social media, saying he was “hurt” to be put behind him.
