Linkin Park earn their 10th No.1 Advertising signMainstream Rock Airplay chart, as “Friendly Fire” gains 3-1 in the April 20 survey.
The song is the band's second No. 1 in a row, following “Lost,” which reigned for eight weeks beginning in March 2023.
The group's list of 10 No. 1s dates back to 2003, when “Somewhere I Belong” ruled for a week.
Linkin Park is the 12th act to score double-digit No. 1s in the 43-year history of the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Shinedown leads with 19 skippers.
“Friendly Fire” previously topped the all-rock Rock & Alternative Airplay chart by audience. It debuted at No. 1 on March 9 and has so far led for two weeks. It also ranks No. 2 with 6.9 million audience impressions from April 5-11, up 6%, according to Luminate.
The track has also climbed to No. 2 on Alternative Airplay, in which the band is looking for its 13th No. 1.
On the most recently released Hot Rock & Alternative Songs polymetric tally (dated April 13, with data accumulated from March 29 to April 4), “Friendly Fire” was placed at No. 35, after debuting at No. 13 high of the March 9 chart. In addition to its radio airplay, the song earned 1.1 million official streams in the US during that time.
The song was recorded during the sessions for, but was not included on, Linkin Park's final album to date, One more lightwhich was released in 2017. It is now a part of it Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023)the band's new greatest hits package, out today (April 12).
