euphee's emotional anarchy is inescapable on her new single, “PROXIMITY EFFECT (who hurt you?),” out now via San Holo's bitbird label.
Produced in collaboration with [lý], lillybug and -Alow, the song is a crackling explosion of hyperpop that stays true to bitbird's affinity for music that pushes boundaries and speaks to the untamed spirit within. Driven by raw emotion and electrifying challenge, they have created an anguished, glitchy soundscape that pulses like a frenetic heartbeat.
The song's nervous production reflects the tempestuous nature of internal turmoil and its lyrics paint a picture of someone who refuses to be silenced. “Get out of the way, make room if you don't want to listen,” her vocalist growls, her voice laced with distortion and refusing to let it shrink to appease the others. “I get out of the picture, it doesn't make any difference,” they continue, adding a nuance of vulnerability that peeks through the bravado.
“PROXIMITY EFFECT (who hurt you?)” will appear on the fourth installation of bitbird create together Series, which will feature 40 artists from 13 countries on four continents. The label says it's the culmination of its community-driven “Create Together Month,” an annual initiative that invites music producers and visual artists on bitbird's Discord server to collaborate.
