RÜFÜS DU SOL, the de facto architects of dance music's tender sing-along moments, are back with a new single, “Music is Better.”
The song, which originally debuted during her Coachella 2024 performance, is her first new music since the brilliant 2021. Surrender album. Writing a love letter to music's effect on falling in love, the Grammy-winning trio picks up where Stardust left off after releasing “Music Sounds Better With You” in 1998.
A dreamscape where love and music intertwine, the house song structure mimics the tension and release of a night out with a new flame. An uplifting melody surprises us, blissfully unaware of the impending pain: “On the edge of a dream / You played me a song / Before I knew what you did,” lead singer Tyrone Lindqvist trembles. But even in the face of potential disappointment, the song celebrates the universal experience of music as a binding force.
“Music is Better” is a solid addition to the group's catalog that will likely resonate with fans and newcomers alike, especially in live settings where their community theme can really come to life.
