“Releasing this soundtrack featuring two of my favorite artists of all time seemed like a natural and obvious choice!” said Ed Banger Records founder Pedro Winter. “Since 'Steak' in 2007, Ed Banger Records has released most of Quentin Dupieux's original soundtracks. When he told me that he wanted to involve Thomas Bangalter in his project Daaaaali!“I knew it would become something special.”
“Both Thomas and Quentin had a pretty clear idea of how music could and should become a character in the film,” Winter continued. “Stepping out of his comfort zone, Thomas used only an antique zither and recorded it in his Parisian studio. He presented this repetitive 1930s theme that gets right into your head and aligns perfectly with the surrealist vision of this brilliant director “This album celebrates the golden age of music and film, with the director and composers sharing a love of classic, timeless film scores.”
Featuring several actors portraying Dalí, the surreal comedy film follows a French journalist who meets the legendary artist while working on an ill-fated documentary. Watch the official trailer below.
