Shaudy Kash: “Wassup”
THE Bill Bellamy of Detroit rap is back at it again. When Shaudy Kash drops, you know you're in for something you haven't seen since the 90s era of Bay Area hip-hop—specifically the work of Too $hort, to his overuse $hort's favorite word. Sometimes the half-assed beat selection holds back Shaudy Kash's near-spoken raps, though that's never a problem when he's connected to the Topside human funk machine like he does on “Wassup.” The Michigan producer's raucous psychedelia sets the sweet mood, and Shaudy Kash cruises along smooth-talking, “Even if she's a bitch with her boo, I'm in/'Nah, we can still do what we do, yeah don't me He cares.'” A game is a game.
With artists releasing songs fast and furious, it's hard for the average hip-hop head to keep track of them all — no matter how well-rounded they are. That's why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.
