LL Cool J hasn't released an album since 2013 Authentic, but the drought should end sometime later this year. The Radio rapper on June 7 announced plans for his first single of the year, “Saturday Night Special,” out June 14.
“In case you missed it, new single 'Saturday Night Special,'” he said in the clip as he hit the studio in shades and his signature Yankee hat. “June 14 is coming. Go to link in bio. Sign up to save it in advance. You know what I mean;”
The surprises didn't stop there, as LL promised that his highly anticipated next “album will be coming in the fall.”
The New Yorker continued: “It's the real deal, baby. The time has come. “Saturday Night Special” is the first single. I will let you know about the features. Two days… Click the link in the bio, you will be able to find out a little earlier. Tracklist for the album is coming. The album will be released in the fall. Well, it's open, baby.'
LL Cool J had a busy 2023 as he participated in hip-hop's 50th anniversary tribute at the Grammy Awards and embarked on The FORCE Live tour.
The 56-year-old has been testing an album over the past year, which he says is executive produced by Q-Tip, but has yet to go ahead with its release. He also did not clarify if it is the same LP.
LL previously upset about it Piproject and working with Q-Tip at the 2023 Grammys. “I know all the tricks,” he said MI! News at that time. “I covered that. I think honestly and honestly, Q-Tip as a producer is incredible and what he did on this record for me, I think it's amazing. So the people will decide.”
