At this point, Lorde fans are looking for any clue that the singer is preparing to release a new album. And it looks like they got that bit of daylight over the weekend when Lorde cleaned up her social media accounts.
That's right, if you were one of the nearly 11 million people who follow Lorde and took to her Instagram over the weekend, you would have seen a “There are no posts yetmessage in lieu of the series of teasers the “Green Light” singer had put together over the past year. In their place was only the phrase that seems to be the prompt for the New Zealand star's upcoming era: “THE THEMES ARE ALWAYS THE SAME— A RETURN TO INNOCENCE— THE MYSTERIES OF BLOOD— AN ITCH FOR THE TRANSCENDENT.”
One fan wrote: “Lorde deletes all her instas… oh LORD DECEMBER it's coming,” while another responded to the sweep with a tinge of disappointed anticipation: “Lord I love you, but how long are you going to tease this project.”
Lorde, 27, slowly outlined the details of her continuation until 2021 Solar energy for nearly a year now, and recently posted just a few seconds of what sounds like new music. The two-second clip was accompanied by a photo of Lorde in the studio, smiling as she bobbed her head from side to side as the organ throbbed with a techno vibe rocking in the background. The caption of the post read, “we'll be in touch again.”
In June, Lorde posted a number of cryptic images, writing “use existing tools where possible” alongside a variety of images including a copyright symbol, three variations of the letter L, the number four in parentheses and a recycling logo. “If the tools don't exist, you're spiritually obligated to create them,” he added along another series of inexplicable images, with more L's, another 4, a row of stars, the number 27, what looked like a Tarot card, the symbol of infinity, a shark, a rabbit and an Egyptian figure.
That post, along with a video of her spitting from a balcony and holding a pill that said “spit” in her hand, were among the Instagram posts lost when the feeds were wiped. To date, Lorde has not given any more details about when her fourth album will be released.
However, it has appeared on a few other musicians' streams lately. Including the weekend photo with Marina (or Marina and the Diamonds) featuring friends playing poolas well as at Charli XCX's 32nd birthday party in Los Angeles on August 3, where the pair danced on sofas and sang Charli's remix Brat single “Girl, so confusing.”
