Louis The Child is once again ready to bring the warmth of endless summer days to the dance floors with his newly announced album, The sun rises.
Their highly anticipated sophomore album, out September 20 via Interscope, promises to encapsulate the carefree yet soulful sound that has defined the duo for the better part of a decade. The announcement comes on the heels of the release of its first single, “Make You Mine.”
The song effortlessly weaves infectious house beats with complex feelings of longing and devotion. With help from longtime collaborator Whethan and the enchanting vocals of Hayley May, “Make You Mine” is a celebration of emotional connection through music. The superstar duo’s reunion with Whethan follows their previous collaboration, “Hurts,” alongside Wafia in 2019.
“Make You Mine” unfolds with energetic vocals that reflect feelings of desire, feelings that are amplified by the song’s prominent and thumping bassline. The production is notable for its simplicity, with soft vocal breaks and a syncopated rhythm giving the song its driving force. Louis The Child and Whethan first crossed paths in Chicago’s vibrant music scene nearly a decade ago and have since shared a creative synergy that continues to evolve.
“We've known Whethan for almost 10 years and we came to Chicago around the same time,” Louis The Child said in a press release shared with EDM.com“We shared a studio back then and moved to Los Angeles around the same time to continue our musical pursuit… He's someone we consider a brother, and to release another song with him is really special.”
