The swifties keep running.
It seems no musical genre is immune to the Taylor Swift cult following, with her being asked left, right and centre to turn any set into a Swift party. No one knows this better than dance music star LP Giobbi, who in October 2023 was tasked with producing and releasing an official remix of “Cruel Summer,” turning the angsty synth-pop song into a bubbly house remix.
The remix not only propelled Giobbi’s name into the mainstream orbit of Swift’s global pop audience, but also added another layer of depth to the beloved producer’s work, much like her popular remixes of The Grateful Dead and Goose. While the song has since become a track that plays with some regularity in the Femme House founder’s DJ sets, of course, it can’t appear in every single one of them.
Apparently, that wasn't so obvious to one Swiftie at Budapest's Sziget Festival, who took it upon herself to send what Giobbi called her “best DM ever,” a fierce rebuke to the DJ for excluding her “Cruel Summer” remix. The fan quickly claims it was “really f*cking disappointing” before concluding the voicemail with a joking, “I love you anyway!”
