I'm not gonna play a game where I lose. I'm gonna play a game where I'm gonna win. And I win by making music. Hi, I'm Lucky Daye and I'm Billboard News.
Gail Mitchell:
Welcome, Lucky Daye.
Lucky day:
Thank you for having me.
Gail Mitchell:
So, I told someone on the team that I was going out to dinner last night and Stevie Wonder's “That's You” from KJLH was playing on the radio. And I thought, “Oh my God, because I'm supposed to talk to him tomorrow.” On the way home, “Hurricane” was playing on the same station. So…
Lucky day:
So Stevie like…
Gail Mitchell:
Stevie likes you.
Lucky day:
Come on. I just invited Stevie Wonder on my show. I told my CEO that I knew someone who knew him.
Gail Mitchell:
OK.
Lucky day:
So I said to him, “When I’m in Los Angeles, keep in mind that Stevie Wonder will be on my show.”
Gail Mitchell:
Great. And congratulations, because, at least this week, “That's You” is at number 3 on R&B Airplay…
Lucky day:
Man, that's good to know.
Gail Mitchell:
So congratulations.
Lucky day:
Good to know, good to see.
Gail Mitchell:
What was your creative mindset when you started working on… Algorithm?
Lucky day:
My mindset was that I wanted to talk to myself as if God was talking to me. I think the only voice I really encounter when I'm not trying to make a voice is God's.
Keep watching for more!
