The cult classic Jennifer’s Body served as the perfect backdrop for Madison Beer‘s possessive passion in the music video for her latest single, “Make You Mine.” The singer and songwriter co-directed the four-minute flick with Aerin Moreno while slipping into the role of Megan Fox’s Jennifer with Sadie Scheufler as Amanda Seyfried’s Anita “Needy” Lesnicki from the 2009 horror-comedy.
“Step inside my mind / You can see the shrine / Got you on my walls,” Beer sings, motioning her two giant cheerleader pom poms towards her best friend in the bleachers, while a letterman jacket-wearing boy gawks at her from a few seats over. “Baby, don’t be scared / Want you everywhere / Catch you if you fall / I mean it,” she promises.
Together, Beer and Sadie set a trap for the boy, luring him into a locker room before swiftly adding him to her roster of victims. It’s just like what Jennifer insisted in the film: “No, I’m killing boys. Boys are just placeholders; they come, and they go.” In between their scheming, the pair are transfixed under the flashing lights of a rave-like party, dancing to the song’s propulsive production as she chants: “I wanna feel, wanna taste, wanna get you going.”
“Make You Mine” arrived in February as Beer’s first single since releasing her sophomore album Silence Between Songs in September 2023. “I feel really proud of the person that I am. I feel proud of the girl that I also was,” told Rolling Stone ahead of the album’s release. “I’ve been able to absorb so many things in the last couple of years and learn from so many things.”
