The duo’s new single marks first new music in over four years
Hinds have returned with “Coffee,” a riotous rocker that is sure to energize you more than the beverage.
“I like black coffee and cigarettes/And flowers from boys that I’m not sleeping with,” Ana Perrote sings over a dreamy riff, dancing and trading verses with Carlotta Cosials. Watch the clip below.
“Coffee is a sincericide, screaming the nasty truth as loud as you can with no shame,” Hinds said in a statement. “It’s about admitting to all the things you’re not supposed to like or doing all the things you’re not meant to do. It’s a lot of fun when you can be fully honest and shut that little voice in your head that tells you what you should or shouldn’t do.”
“Coffee” marks Hinds’ first new single in over four years. It’s also their return as a duo (after forming in 2011, they added bassist Ade Martin and drummer Amber Grimbergen in 2014). The band released their debut, Leave Me Alone, in 2016, followed by 2018’s I Don’t Run and 2020’s The Prettiest Curse. They have yet to announce a new album but will be making several stops at this year’s South by Southwest next month in Austin. They have a pair of sold-out shows on the books at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right, taking place on March 18 and 19.
