The music video for Marc Anthony's “Flor Pálida” has now captured the world's undivided attention more than a billion times.
The 2014 image has officially joined YouTube's Billion Views Club, as confirmed by the platform. This feat marks the fourth time the Boricua superstar has reached this milestone, following his salsa banger “Vivir Mi Vida” and appearances on Pitbull's “Rain Over Me” and Gente de's “La Gozadera” Zona, in which the singer appears.
The music video follows the story of a struggling waitress, depicted through various scenes of her braving the rain. As the narrative unfolds, there are whimsical moments with dancing scarecrows. The waitress finally leaves, carrying a large suitcase. Meanwhile, Marc Anthony is seen driving a jeep through the cornfields where he finally finds her, with the waitress basking in the bliss, feeding horses and spending time with the singer in a warm home. The story culminates with their wedding, symbolizing a new beginning.
The salsa song, written by Cuban singer-songwriter Polo Montañez in 2002, is about a man who revives a dying flower as a metaphor for the revival that love can bring.
Marc Anthony's version of the track reached No. 16 on the overall Latin Airplay chart in July 2014 and topped Tropical Airplay for two weeks between May and June 2014. The song appears on the singer's 2013 album 3.0. This billion view milestone comes as the music video marks its 10th anniversary, which was on October 17.
The salsa superstar is currently on tour, with upcoming dates in Austin (Nov. 2), New York (Nov. 7), Miami (Nov. 16-17) and more. Check out his tour dates tour/”>his website.
