Mariah Carey celebrates her 55th “anniversary” on a boat

Happy birthday, Mariah Carey — or happy anniversary, rather.

The elusive singer took to Instagram to share the first glimpse of her 55th birthday celebrations on Wednesday (March 27) with a photo of herself relaxing on a luxury yacht, rocking a sparkly blue dress with her wavy blonde locks in a ponytail. “Anniversary adventures begin,” she captioned the photo, which you can see here.

Last year, Carey shared a fan account's tweet using a recurring interview in which she explains her view of birthdays: “I don't have a birthday. So no, I just have anniversaries. I decided to do this. And I've noticed that people who decide not to have birthdays, just don't have them.”

The superstar has an exciting spring season ahead of her as she plans to return to Las Vegas for a third time with her debut The Celebration of Mimi residency, which runs from April 12 to April 27 at Dolby Live at Park MGM. The show series will mark the 19th anniversary of her fan-favorite album, The emancipation of Mimi (released April 12, 2005).

A statement shared with Advertising sign at the time of the announcement it states that “the Las Vegas shows will feature fan favorites from this album as well as other hits from her incomparably illustrious career.” The emancipation of Mimiwith hits such as “We Belong Together” and “Shake It Off”, it was one of the best-selling albums of its year and is known in its catalog as a “comeback album“.
