With his new single “Smile”, Martin Garrix proves that sometimes the most powerful crescendos are not measured in volume or bass, but in heart.
Out now via his own STMPD RCRDS label, the track finds Garrix trading in his usual EDM thunder for a more upbeat approach, grounding his sound in an unexpected mix of bubbly indietronica and folk charm.
Featuring vocals from Chad Wolf of pop-rock band Carolina Liar, “Smile” is like the sunshine after the rain, offering a melodic lifeline to those caught in life’s storms. Invoking yellow brick trains and beaming sunbeams in Joshua Tree, its evocative composition shines with an earthy authenticity while extending a hand to hold when the world feels overwhelming.
“Smile” doesn’t just invite happiness, it practically manufactures it, bottling candor and compassion into a three-minute dance anthem. In June, Garrix debuted the song during his sold-out four-night run at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, where Carolina Liar joined him onstage for a trio of inspiring live performances.
