Martin Garrix is officially furious after releasing “Biochemical,” his third single in as many weeks.
Joining forces with fellow Dutchman Seth Hills, he has fired another arrow into a seemingly inexhaustible arsenal of mainstage anthems. The release of the song coincides with the announcement of a new EP, IDEMwhich Garrix will release on March 8 under his own STMPD RCRDS banner.
“IDEM” translates to “the same” in Latin and the concept is said to represent the “culmination of a decade-long journey” for Garrix, whose music recently surpassed a staggering 11 billion streams on Spotify. The EP shares a name with last year's biggest shows at RAI during the Amsterdam Dance Event.
“Biochemical” arrives highly anticipated after Garrix opted to open his Ultra 2023 set with the electrifying track, which set the tone for the spectacular performance that followed. Serving as their live intro ever since, it has proven to be a genuine DJ weapon on the stages of the world's biggest festivals, an experience Hills called “surreal”.
“Martin and I have been friends for years and have always been willing to work together on a track,” Hills said in a press release. “We were always exchanging ideas looking for the perfect combination. When we made 'Biochemical' we immediately knew this was the one. Seeing him on the main stages opening Martin's crazy set, and the endless responses we got has been a surreal experience.”
“Biochemical” follows the releases of “Carry You” (featuring Third Party, Oaks and Declan J Donovan) and “Breakaway” (featuring Mesto and WILHELM). All three will appear in IDEM.
