In a heartfelt move that resonates far beyond the festival stage, Martin Garrix has been named the new ambassador of the Princess Máxima Center.
Prinses Máxima is one of the leading pediatric oncology centers in the Netherlands. With approximately 600 children in the country facing cancer each year, the institute's mission is critical to improving survival rates and providing the best possible care to young patients.
Garrix is now lending his influence to support the center's innovative childhood cancer research and treatments. The Dutch electronic music superstar recently visited us to offer a DJ course with one-on-one instruction for several young cancer patients.
Sharing his appreciation for Princess Máxima's mission, Garrix said he looks forward to teaming up with the organization as an official ambassador.
“I think it's fantastic what the Princess Maxima Center does for children with cancer,” Garrix said. “I know that many children around the world continue to die from this disease. This motivates me to contribute to Máxima's important mission of curing every child with cancer, with the best quality of life possible. It is an honor to be part of a organization that plays such an important role in the lives of these children.
“We are very pleased to welcome Martin Garrix as our new ambassador,” added Rob Pieters, medical director of the Princess Máxima Centre. “Your support will help us take our mission globally and make a difference for all children with cancer. Together we can raise awareness that there are still too many children dying from this disease and that there is an urgent need for better treatments.”
