Friends, today we return with another Matty Healy classic. It's a Mad Libs-style controversy: On Tuesday night (December 3), the 1975 frontman took to Twitter and threatened to troll his own fans after they expressed disappointment in his girlfriend for drinking raw milk – all in the middle of a feud with Azealia Banks. Come get your word soup while it's hot!
In a now-deleted tweet, Healy clumsily attempted to defend his fiancée, Gabbriette, who found herself drawn into the fray. “If I see a little barista on Twitter say ONE thing about my Gabi, NEVER, I will use my mental illness to affect you the most and I will cheat on you and screw you over.” Threatening someone isn't always the feeling… but threatening your own fans feels like a Matty Healy Special.
And while most reasonable people know it's never wise to engage in a Twitter battle with Azealia Banks, Healy has never presented herself as a reasonable person. Things started when Healy attempted to defend Charli Healy to respond: “All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive, NICE people. I think this makes you jealous because you have a lot of talent but everything else about you It's a failure. Just rap, bro.” What could go wrong from here?
Unsurprisingly, things quickly devolved into a classic back-and-forth between two especially hot-headed people: Banks said Healy looked like Frankenstein. Healy threatened to slap Banks, who then potentially teetered into homophobic territory by accusing Healy of being “too busy kissing men on stage” to defend her fiancé from physical harm. Healy then said Banks was being “mean,” which is not a good response, if we're being honest. Standard Tuesday night fare!
The chaos ended in the funniest way possible, with Healy admitting he was scared and backing off.
Gabbriette, something of an It Girl, is in the recent record embracing the raw milk trend, which many see as a conservative whistle.
