Megan Thee Stallion and RM's “Neva Play” is so hot it scares me a little
The point is this: BTS absolutely needs to retire from the military. They've served long enough!
If you don't keep up with all things BTS, you might be surprised to learn that they've been on a hiatus of sorts for the past few years. It hasn't felt like a hiatus at all. It's getting a little mind-blowing to see the amount of content these guys cooked up before they set off — fans have been swimming in multiple full-length albums, travel shows, documentaries, and collaborations that were prepared in advance, including this new song from Megan Thee Stallion.
Megan Thee Stallion and RM make a good team. They’re both poised and confident; they both have incredible stage presence. They love wordplay and thrive on their respective beats when rapping. Their first collaboration came when Meg joined in on BTS’s fun and bright “Butter” remix, but “Neva Play” has a completely different vibe. If anyone understands how much variety a BTS member can offer from song to song, it’s ARMY’s resident purple princess — this is day 726 of me asking for Megan Thee Stallion photocards. It’s what we deserve!
RM prospers in their lowest register, which is employed to maximum effect on “Neva Play.” It’s always exciting to see new listeners embrace the reality that BTS’s massive discography promises a world of riches waiting beyond the songs that helped introduce them to mainstream audiences and casual listeners; today, Twitter has been a flurry of non-fans and Hotties (members of Meg’s fandom) proclaiming their newfound ARMY status. “I didn’t know anyone in BTS sounded like that,” A user wrote“RM, I didn’t know about your game,” he said. other.
It seems ARMY wasn’t the only one who was affected by that “What’s up Stallion?” intro line. But any longtime fan can relate to the tension of accepting well-deserved recognition and wanting to be a little more selective, especially since this is a particularly intense collaboration. This is the energy of “DDAENG.” This is the energy of “Cypher Pt. 3.” This is the energy of “All Night,” and that’s not something to be trifled with.
