“I've never heard him rap in this style before,” the Houston rapper says of his collaborator
Megan Thee Stallion and RM join forces for new song “Neva Play”. The Houston rapper announced their joint single on Sunday. Coming September 6th.
“NEVA PLAY WITH RM OUT FRIDAY HOTTIES X ARMY,” he wrote on Instagram, sharing the hashtag #MEGJOON along with the single's cover art. The cover design depicts a blue-haired Megan holding money while RM looks over his shoulder behind her.
Meghan added in the caption, “ps. This is one of my favorite RM lyrics I've heard! I've never heard him rap in this style before.” Official X (formerly Twitter) account of BTS was also shared the cover, adding that the song will arrive “September 6, 1pm (KST) | 0 AM (ET)'.
She and BTS began teasing the collaboration last week, with Megan tweeting a series of emojis on Thursday that included a stallion horse and a purple heart, which fans assumed was a tip for BTS. On Friday, BTS confirmed the news, retweeting Megan's post and writing “Soon!”
Megan previously collaborated with BTS in the summer of 2021 for the remix of their megahit “Butter” and joined the boy band in the fall to perform it live for the first time in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium.
Megan Thee Stallion — who released her third studio album, Meganon June 28 — is set to host the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11. She is also nominated for five awards, including Best Collaboration for “Wanna Be” with GloRilla and Best Hip Hop for “BOA.”
Meanwhile, BTS has suspended full group activities until 2025 as the members complete their mandatory military service in South Korea, although they are individually working on projects. Most recently, Jimin's solo album Muse arrived in July and teamed up with bandmate Jung Kook for travel series Are you sure?! which debuted on Disney+ last month. Jean also served as a torchbearer during the Paris Summer Olympics in July.
