Megan Thee Stallion is returning to Chicago this summer as she has been tapped to replace Tyler, the Creator at Lollapalooza 2024.
The Windy City-based festival announced Thursday (June 20) that the Houston hottie will headline Lollapalooza's Thursday (August 1) night. The announcement comes as Tyler revealed he is leaving Lolla as well as Outside Lands 2024 this summer.
“Hot girl summer in Chicago Unfortunately, Tyler the Creator will not be able to perform this year. I see @theestallion headline Lolla on Thursday August 1,” the festival wrote on social media.
There appeared to be a mixed reaction on Lollapalooza's Instagram comments, with the headliner change leading to some fans asking for a refund.
“Brother Tyler carried. who decided megan was a good idea,” asked one person while another wrote: “Why is everyone so mad tyler always headlines megan is such a good replacement.”
Meghan is currently wrapping up the North American leg of her Hot Girl summer tour this weekend with shows in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, before heading across the pond for a handful of European dates through July, which will give her time to return stateside to begin. off Lollapalooza on August 1st.
Megan Thee Stallion will have plenty of new music on her return to Chi City, and so will she Megan The album is expected to be released on June 28. She previously headlined Chicago's United Center as part of her tour in May.
Just minutes before Lollapalooza made Meg official, Tyler surprised his fans when he announced that he would be pulling out of Lollapalooza and Outside Lands the following weekends this summer.
“I hate to say this, but I have to cancel lollapalooza and outer territories,” he wrote to X. “I've made a commitment I can no longer keep, and it bothers me knowing how excited people were. That's not sexy at all. please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. love.”
Outside Lands also moved quickly when they revealed that Sabrina Carpenter would be replacing Tyler at the San Francisco festival on August 10th. Following the show, the “Espresso” singer will embark on an arena tour this fall, with the Short n' Sweet tour slated to kick off in September.
